Understand your
investment eligibility.
Explore common individual investor tests and standard offering memorandum limits. This guide does not approve an investment or calculate what you can afford.
How to use this estimate
Standard limits, limited scope
For Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, this guide illustrates the usual $10,000 / $30,000 / $100,000 OM framework. It does not calculate special relief, issuer-specific requirements or other exemptions.
No suitability approval
A legal ceiling is not a recommendation. Your liquidity needs, risk capacity, concentration and the investment’s terms may support a much smaller amount—or no investment.
British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador have a different OM framework without these standard dollar caps. A result showing no fixed dollar cap never means unlimited suitable investment capacity.
Reinvestment relief may change the ordinary calculation for qualifying transactions. Ask your representative to review the current local order or rule and your transaction history. Issuer restrictions also apply; for example, the OM exemption is unavailable to investment funds in Ontario and New Brunswick. A representative must establish the issuer’s regulatory status.
